Art Therapy Northern Programme

We’re passionate about the positive impact that art can have on both physical and mental health.

Art therapy gives people the opportunity to express how they feel and regain a sense of personal control. Our ethos is to listen to the voices of people who use our services and work collaboratively to support recovery.

The Art Therapy Northern Programme has been established for more than 40 years and offers formal training and education in art therapy from our range of experts.

We provide two courses:

Over the years we have trained people who have gone on to work in art therapy in the UK and across the world.

Our innovative approach is built on years of experience working in higher education and research. The courses we offer have been developed by some of the leading figures in art therapy.

Applying for a course

For entry in September 2020 we will accept applications throughout the year, however, we advise you apply as soon as possible as there is high demand for a limited number of places.

Based on your application offers are made either for the coming academic year, or for the next one, depending on the places available.

Professional registration

‘Art Psychotherapist’ and ‘Art Therapist’ are the protected titles for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Both titles are equivalent and describe the same professional practice.

It is not possible to practice legally without a qualification and without registration with the HCPC.
