Celebrating Eid - what it means to me

The Muslim festival of Eid is due to take place in the coming days (the exact date isn't likely to be known until Saturday).

Eid al-Fitr (the festival of breaking the fast), marks the end of Ramadan. Hus, PA and chair of our Ethnically Diverse Staff Network Group, explains what Eid means to her and how she celebrates it.

My name is Hus (Husnara) and I work in the people directorate and I am also chair of the Ethnically Diverse Staff network group.

Eid al-Fitr is a wonderful day of celebration and it’s also a day to bid farewell to the holy month of Ramadan.

I spend the night before Eid decorating my home and cooking food. Thankfully me and my siblings cook a few curries each and take turns hosting in one home and gather and celebrate as a family.

We exchange gifts and eat delicious food. We also pray and give thanks for everything.

For those who are celebrating - Eid Mubarak. Have a wonderful and prosperous day of celebrating.

Eid Mubarak to everybody celebrating.
