Mike Potts will be joining Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust as our new Chair on 01 August 2020 when our current Chair, Jayne Brown OBE, formally retires from this role.
Mike has a wealth of leadership and management experience in the NHS. He’s been working with Boards for around 20 years and was previously Chief Executive at Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield Primary Care Trust Cluster. He’s also worked in commissioning services in South and West Yorkshire.
Among his more recent roles, he supported a number of health and social care systems achieve greater integration and agree an action plan following a Care Quality Commission review of how they support older people.
Mike enjoys the challenge of partnership working and has a passion for supporting people from multiple organisations to work together effectively.
Speaking about his appointment, Mike said; “Mental health, substance misuse and learning disability services touch the lives of around one in four people in Sheffield. Our services will be needed by more people than ever as our vibrant and diverse city recovers from COVID-19. I am proud to be joining SHSC as chair at this time and looking forward to supporting your vital work.
“As Chair I will be taking an active role in listening to the people we serve to understand what is working well and what we need to improve. There are lots of challenges ahead. We need to move into the recovery phase of our response to COVID-19 while staying focused making the changes that we all want to see so we can give our service users the best care and support."
