Sheffield Mental Health Week proves a big hit!

The Trust was out in force to celebrate Sheffield Mental Health Week and World Mental Health Day itself.

At the beginning of the week we held a health talk for our members and the public on depression and anxiety.  It proved hugely popular with over 120 people attending.  There were presentations from a number of health professionals from the Trust’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Service, including a taster session on Mindfulness and information about symptoms and how and where to seek treatment.  If you would like to read the presentations, please click here.

We ended the week by celebrating in the Winter Gardens.  Sage Greenfingers offered apple pressing and willow weaving.  They also invited members of the public to leave positive messages about mental health on the huge willow globe.  In addition, art was offered to the public to demonstrate its therapeutic value and Governors from both this Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust took the opportunity to chat to people about health and wellbeing and invited them to become members of the Trust.

Governors and staff from the Trust attend many community events so that we can talk to you about what’s important to you.  We also want more people to become members so that we can send out our magazine to keep them informed about what’s happening in Sheffield.
