About Therapy Services

Therapy Services comprises of a range of Allied Health Professions (AHP) services including Art therapy, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Chaplaincy into a range of services within Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust and the wider community. Therapy Services is committed to delivering quality services and supporting the development of high standards of professional practice

We Provide:

  • Direct Clinical Work - Assessment, Person Centred Goal Planning and a wide range of interventions across all specialities and professions
  • Input into Research, audit and service evaluation
  • Teaching and Training including formal programmes such as MA in Art Psychotherapy Practice
  • Practice Placements for pre registration training programmes at University for Occupational Therapists, Art Therapists and Physiotherapists
  • Consultancy and Specialist advice to services, commissioners and other agencies and into specific projects on current and potential Therapy Services provision
  • Continuing professional development support and opportunities to Therapy Services staff

We Work into other services within:

We work as integrated members of the interdisciplinary team within the service where we are based. The Director of Therapy Services is responsible to the Executive Director of Operations.

Structure:

Staff are integrated members of the clinical teams and organisations in which they work. Their professional management and development is provided by Therapy Services through professional clinical leadership.

The administrative centre of Therapy Services is located in the Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust Headquarters at Fulwood House.

Workforce

There are currently over 230 staff within Therapy Services. We regularly have students on placement working within the services.

Service Principles

We support a comprehensive range of therapy professionals into many service areas ensuring appropriately skilled staff to maximise the provision of a quality service. We are proactive to new demands and development opportunities that arise from the changing health and social care agenda.

Research

We support and pursue research and evaluation across the professions and service areas. Recently Therapy Services has been actively involved in four major research projects with partners in higher education.

Recruitment and Retention

Therapy Services is working towards a robust recruitment and retention that promotes and supports diversity to reflect the local population. We are flexible and aim to provide equal opportunities for our staff.

The Therapy Services model enables strong professional leadership to be available for all our staff across the different organisations.

Professional and Personal Development

Therapy Services supports staff in their professional and personal development through the establishment of supervision and appraisal systems, training opportunities and good local induction.

Staff have access to a variety of learning opportunities through in-house provision including Risk and IT training, local skills sharing, external courses at post basic and masters level and through the formation of personal development plans.

We have close contacts with higher education in Sheffield.
